Goulash Disko:
Power from the People

GOULASH DISKO 2024: PREVIEW

31st July 2024

Goulash Disko, the Central European hotpot of marvellous people, sights, sounds and activities (and if we are really lucky, some traditional Goulash!). Or, as the organisers like to envision it: 'a goulash of people, music and flavour!' As heard from previous years - it is a magical homegrown, organic pleasure dome that doesn't disappoint in the slightest!

As always, we have a very busy summer in swing, as we do our best to cover all that the UK music scene has on offer. We couldn’t help but stop, taking a minute to look forward to a small scale, intimate and organic gathering that will be closing out our summer. This one’s going to be special.

One of the greatest joys that Goulash packs is that it's grounded in sustainability, without the need for sponsors or subsidies, as the first ever crowd funded festival in the world! The €82,109 that was raised, with only a €25,000 target, not only cherishes the community they have grown, but plants firm roots for the future sustainability of their own unique festival.

So then, where is it? Goulash can be found tucked away peacefully across two coves around the remote fishing village of Komiza, on the island of Vis - just off the Croatian coast. Take a look at this video, and you can undoubtably be expecting enchanting sunsets to feast your eyes upon.

The line-up this time around is set to be spicy as always, programming to include the fruits of the global underground, spiced up with its distinctive flavours including Balkan trumpets, gipsy bands and circus acts. After speaking with the organisers we have heard whispers that this year it's going to be a very international lineup, with some of the UK acts will including Jinx in Dub, Jman (Babylon Dead) and Waggles. Topping this off we also have the pleasure of being joined once again by our compadre, K.O.G, along with 80+ incredibly talented bands, DJs and producers. Listen to recordings of previous sets here for yourself if you want to check it out now.

In addition to the musical bonanza, there are 40-odd arts (and the like) workshops to keep your mind and body moving while you fully invest in that sweet bohemian beach life.

If you can’t wait until the 18th of September to get stuck into the Goulash festities, then you’ll be excited to know that they are hosting two warm-up parties filled with dub-infused flavours prior to the main event this weekend. The first, taking place in Bristol at the Attic Bar on Friday the 2nd of August and the second taking place at a personal favourite of mine, the Fox and Firkin on Saturday 3rd of August in London. So, get yourselves down to your local to see No Ice Cream Sounds for a good ol’ wiggle.

If you can't tell, we are overjoyed to be teaming up with Goulash this year to bring you the lowdown on such a colourful and organic wonderland.

And so, if you're fancying a session of sun-drenched revelling with lovely people too, then be sure to bag yourself a ticket right here. This might just be the last one in this location!

We look forward to seeing some of you there! X
